Many of my 'Holiday Dogs' customer's have highly recommended Patrick and Corrinne as fantastic cocker spaniel and cockerpoo breeders and I am therefore only too pleased to include them on my website as reputable breeders!
Patrick and Corrinne O'Connor have over 25 years experience in breeding, with the past 14 years breeding cocker spaniels and the past 3 years the delightful cockerpoo (F1's). Their stud cocker spaniel, Reggie is an 'A' dog and FN (kidneys) tested clear, bitches Ellie and Sapphire, also blue roan 'A' dogs.
An 'A' dog is one that has been genetically tested in America for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) which means that the dog can go blind at an early age. Cocker Spaniels and Poodles can suffer from this but their stock mentioned above have all been tested clear - which means their offspring cannot get the disease. Their apricot minature Poodle, Teddy (photo below) is also tested clear. As long as one parent is an 'A' the puppies will not get it. In the UK they do a manual test of the eyes, but although he or she is 'clear' on the day, that dog could have PRA soon after.
They are licensed by the local council and under their strict rules they are allowed 1 hour a day to leave for shopping requirements etc. Other than that they must employ someone on the premises. The council also have the right to undertake a thorough inspection without prior notice, but Patrick and Corrinne are fine with this as they know their standards are maintained extremely high at all times.
All puppies are socialised, wormed and loved and are available for sale at eight weeks, not before. They undergo a vet check and have the first innoculation. Clients will receive food to take with them, a puppy pack containing a diet sheet, vet book, do's and donts, local and out of town groomers and boarders, 4 weeks pet plan insurance. Help and advice given.... even if the dog has reached 16 years of age, they are only at the other end of the phone ready to help!
Their dogs live indoors and are used to the hoover and household noises, music is constantly playing and as they clear out and are playing, touching and praising the puppies and adults! They live and whelped on newspaper which instructs them at an early age newspaper is where they do their toilet. They know the rustle of newspaper and accept this is what is being asked of them - clients then endorse this at home and carry on the newspaper theme.
Patrick and Corrinne love and are passionate about their animals - they also own horses, ducks, chickens and doves - all in their backgarden! The dogs when exercising get a welcome glimpse into their animals world! Patrick and Corrinne are natural animal lovers, they love it and it gives them great pleasure!
They have sold puppies to many areas of the UK, and have even had customers in Egypt, to a well known hotellier, where he purchased 2 dogs for his children!
